(Been busy)
It looked to my like it was written. (Probably just me missing an important detail.)
I bought mine new. From a dealer. And paid for the luxury of owning one even though I live in Nebraska, the home of suck.

I am the white void. I am the cold steel. I am the just sword. With blade in hand shall I reap the sins of this world and cleanse it in the fires of destruction. I am Hakumen. The end has come!
The person who's name is writen in this note shall die.
Death Note.
is,
bloody,
awesome.
not only do they have a anime and manga, they have live action movies too! (and a spin off movie)
and suga shikao does one of the themes: Manatsu no Yoru no Yume. good song.
Death Note has to be one of the most popular animes out at the moment.
just one question... what would you do with a Death Note and a pet shinigami?
~clusterlizard1
More disturbing than your creepy uncle...
This question can be boiled down to "Who would you like to kill?"
I don't have anyone in mind really. Though I will say... Death Note's anime ending....

Light deserved something a bit more than getting shot and bleeding out on some stairs. Something a bit more epic than that.
I am the white void. I am the cold steel. I am the just sword. With blade in hand shall I reap the sins of this world and cleanse it in the fires of destruction. I am Hakumen. The end has come!
So far, my favorites are Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain. I've seen Dragon Pink, but it's...well..."adult". It's been a few years since I've seen it, so I don't remember if I liked it.
I've seen bits of some others, but haven't gotten interested in anything yet. I'll try some of the recommended ones.
I don't like the idea that anime is supposed to be japanese animation. It just means animation in japanese. So, I would like it to mean animation with respect to the japanese animation style.
My favorites japanese animation are Kimagure Orange Road. And, Maison Ikkoku. I was emotionally wrecked after the 96th episode of Maison Ikkoku. I was also totally shocked that I like romance stories.
I was reading Red String which is by an american mangaka, but have failed to find time to look at it in a while. It's romantic, and she puts comments into her manga explaining what this or that detail typifies about japanese culture.
I'm watching Urusei Yatsura. I wonder if I would like Inuyasha, since I like Maison Ikkoku and Urusei Yatsura. I plan to read ranma 1/2 at some point.
I watched Creamy Mami, which was great I thought. Though I was afraid someone would see me watching "cartoons" about a 9 year old girl who transforms into a rock star, and get the wrong idea. It has great music and charming stories.
I've put off watching Sailor Moon, since for some reason I've decided I have to read it first and I never do it. And I've put off reading/watching Magic Knight Rayearth since I've decided I have to wait until after sailor moon for that.
Planetes was very good.
I usually don't like "guy stories", when that means fighting and stuff, which I find pretty boring. Bushido, what I know of it, is stupid. But, I really enjoyed the manga Parasyte. That would make great anime.
A newer thing I liked was Paprika. It's a movie. If it's related to some series I would like to see that. Parts of it reminded me of Ghost in the Shell. There was some story arc in Ghost in the Shell that involved hackers making people go crazy.
FLCL. Ergo Proxy. Chobits.
I like all of the Miyazaki movies and books, except for Sherlock Hound. The naausica manga is probably my favorite manga. The anime is like one 8th of the story and doesn't include the most interesting parts of the story, in my opinion. I wish they would do the rest of the story in anime. I got this Miyazaki water color book in which he says he considers stories finished after the anime is done. So, I guess that means no hope there.
Aeon Flux really deserves to be treated as a similar type of art, even if it is not in the japanese style. So, I'm still bothered by the selective use of the word anime.
Anime
While in Japan, anime refers to all animation, in English anime refers specifically to Japanese animation. The English blanket term is "cartoon." Why this is, I don't know. Similar variations also happen with other words.
I recently heard about this thing called Touhou. I hang around elsewhere and there are a number of Touhou fans. Well after hearing the constant, and I mean constant, clamoring, I thought I'd give it a shot.
I walked away entirely indifferent. Yeah, they are a fun scrolling shooter and time waster, but really... the devote are a little too zealous for my tastes. (I know a guy that does nothing but talk about it... Sometimes I wonder why I still know him.) And there are a couple of fighting games... PCs never do fighting games so I am avoiding them.
Though I suppose it's a lot like sports fans...
Anyway, if you want to give it a shot, (there are some with english patches,) you can get here. Even at my fast speed it still took about 2 hours to download.
(Here is a video of what Touhou is like, fastforwarded through non boss areas.)

That looks really cool. It doesn't actually look all that fast paced to me, but I'm not actually playing it. The graphics are what is moving fast.
My time management skills are bad and I haven't found time to play a video game in a while. I didn't watch advent children yet, because I never finished FF7.
First person shooter games make me feel really ill from motion sickness. I wonder if you can train yourself not to get motion sickness by playing first person shooter games.
I guess if the word anime is used to distinguish japanese animation then it serves that purpose. It's not clear what "japanese animation" means though. Does everyone have to be japanese? No Koreans/Chinese allowed? They have to live in Japan? If a Korean lives in Japan and makes animation is it anime?
Really, I'm only bothered when the selective meaning of anime is used for what I consider no good reason. Steamboy is anime as far as I'm concerned, unless there is a good reason to say it's not.
That reminds me, I liked "the 12 kingdoms", which is Japanese animation set in China.
I was indifferent about "Trinity Blood" which was set in... the vatican? I watched it because my Megacon shirt had a picture of it on it.
sorry I haven't watched any anime for so long. I am a big manga reader, I read it for free in the book store with out purchasing it. upon rare occassions I get to buy stuff. I like shojo though being a girl, but some manga you cant tell if its shojo or shonen. I like some shonen, I read shonen jump. I actually like naruto a little. which is strange because I dont usually like the POP manga. all though I must say I am a fan of most vampire manga. Love my vampires, and for any one who reads vampire knight I'm hoping Kaname will twist to the side of evil and eat every one!
Sigh but I know that wont happen since they've made him out to be such a goody two shoes. for really I cant wait till he sucks yuki dry and then goes all out on a killing spree! I dont know if I can take much more. any one read reformed? thats another good vampire manga. oh and I like rosario vampire too, I even read fallen vampire. not a fan of trinity blood, or chibi vampire. I'm so picky!! and they've taken all the really good kiddie porn and seald it up in plastic wrap so I cant read it with out buying it. really! hows a girl supose to get her cheap thrills?
its been a long time. I was stuck in a time warp thats why I havent been on untill now.
Here's a great source to read manga for free online:
One Manga
I know where to get the "H" stuff but I refuse to post a link because I refuse to become a spambot. Even if I did sort of just do that with the above link...
I am still into Negima, if that isn't obvious. :P
I've been trying to get in to "Code Geass" but Gundam is so much better... and Lelouch's Geass pales in comparison to Legato Bluesummer's (from Trigun) mind control abilities.
