    Agreed.

    I took American Sign Language classes a long time ago, and I think it is a great language, compared to spoken languages. It is not just discreet symbols! A deaf person who is born deaf would have no internal dialog, I think (translating your thoughts into words). I never got to ask a person born deaf about that.

    A couple of years before I started going to punk rock shows, my friend who inspired me to take sign language classes used to go to "the deaf club", which was a club where there were punk shows that were attended by deaf kids. They supposedly enjoyed the shows a lot because they could feel the music.

    Also, I worked with a deaf woman who communicated with us by reading our lips and talking. You could just barely tell that there was something unusual about her speech. That's quite an amazing feat, it seems to me.
