    The prisoner

The original prisoner on bluray is gorgeous, visually and audibly.

Now the original has higher resolution than the remake.

Me and ILK just recently watched the whole original series. After the first 5 episodes that very long title sequence starts to get on your nerves ;) ...but we persevered and finished it.
Overall I found the series a surreal but intriguing idea. The ultimate conclusion of the series was, frankly, a bizarre trip and I had to search for interviews with the people who made the show, and only then could I get some idea of what they were aiming for.
All together I enjoyed the whole series.

Then we also watched the modern day remake of the series. This started off promising, but I felt too much was explained revealed too fast, and it basically turned into a completely different plot from the original series. I didn't enjoy this series as much as the original.

On the dvd, the director (I think) refers to the remake as a reimagining of the story. But, since the original is almost sacred, it risks people dismissing it, since it's not the same, when I don't think it's trying to be. I really like the remake. And, I like reimaginings of stories. Maybe, they shouldn't have called it the prisoner though.

To me, what the artist intends, what they ultimately produce, and how the observer of the art interprets it, are all equally valid. Good art comes from somewhere beyond the artists reason and intentions, so they would not be qualified to say what their art means anyway.
